Diarrhea is a condition where a person passes loose or watery stools. There should be at least three loose stools in a day, to be called diarrhea. It is usually caused by an infection or the intake of contaminated food or drinks. Diarrhea also occurs in a case of certain food intolerance or those suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis etc.

It is advisable to take frequent small sips of water frequently. It is even better to take rehydration fluid frequently. An example of a rehydration fluid would be a half teaspoon of salt and 4 teaspoons of sugar dissolved in a litre of water. A little bit of lemon juice could also be added. The rehydration fluid helps in replenishing the liquid and the electrolytes lost during diarrhoea. Avoid spicy food, fruits, milk and dairy food. Take only some mild food. Taking adequate rest is also important during diarrhea. It helps to restore the lost energy. Here are some foods that are not only safe but also beneficial during diarrhea.
